Body Image Camps!

Would you like Girlformation to put on a Body Image Camp for you at no charge?

If you can put together a group of 6-10 girls in the age ranges of 9-11 or 12-14, facilitators, Kathleen Hastings, RN, social worker Christina Francis, LCSW, and Carrie Charpentier, certifi ed elementary teacher, will discuss themes pertaining to positive and negative images that society and culture have created in respect to women's bodies. Each Body Image Camp runs on Saturday and Sunday from 10AM-3PM each day. Transportation is not provided.

The Body Image Camp is free to participants and there are a limited number of available spaces filled on a first come, first serve basis. Both days a catered lunch will be available to participants.

If you would like us to put on a Body Image Camp for you, please Contact Us. In the "Summary" section, tell us the number of girls, the age range of the girls, and your location, and a Girlformation staffer will be in touch!

Welcome!

Who is Girlformation?
Girlformation is a quarterly newsletter distributed to a school staff member at every elementary, middle and high school in Maine. Each school staff member agrees to read the newsletter and share the information with girls in his/her school. Girlformation is also mailed to over a hundred organizations that support Maine girls. The newsletter is generously supported by a non-profit organization in Ogunquit, called the "Morton Foundation".

What is the Girlformation newsletter about?
Girlformation is a newsletter for and about Maine girls. Each newsletter has a theme. Previous themes have been: Girls and Healthy Living, Girls and Bullying and Girls and Physical Activity. The newsletter has researched based articles detailing girls' experiences surrounding the selected theme. The newsletter includes movie reviews, book reviews and website suggestions surrounding that issue's theme. Each newsletter celebrates Maine girls and Maine programs that support our state's girls. Maine girls are also encouraged to have their voices heard in each issue through Girls Submissions of writing and artwork as well as interviews conducted with Maine girls.
